If you’re familiar with the real-life roulette table, live roulette shouldn’t be too hard to get your head around. On the screen, you’ll see the roulette table with two distinct betting sections. The long betting table is for inside bets while the wide, perpendicular betting table is for outside bets. At the top of the table is the wheel and the croupier, who spins the wheel, drops the ball, and calls the winning bet. In most live casino formats, the dealer will be playing on a physical table, placing your bets with real chips and spinning the wheel in real-time. However, you will find that some live roulette lobbies use a computer-generated betting table, with only the dealer and the wheel actually present.

There are two commonly used types of live roulette wheels:

European Roulette – a European roulette wheel has 37 individual pockets, from 0 to 36, with a house edge of 2.7%.

American Roulette – an American roulette wheel has 38 pockets, with an additional 00 and a house edge of 5.26%.

Basic bets are divided into two main sections: inside and outside bets. These bets include picking columns, squares, and the one that a lot of players usually go for, red or black.

Inside bets are bets on single numbers. You can make several types of inside bets in live roulette:

Outside bets are placed on a group of numbers. You can make several types of outside bets in live roulette:

• Red/Black – you bet on whether the ball will land on a red or black number, with odds of 1:1

• Odd/Even – you bet on whether the ball will land on an odd or even pocket, with odds of 1:1

• High/Low – the last bet with odds of 1:1, you bet whether the ball will land on a number between 1-18 or 19-36

• Dozens – you pick a group of 12 numbers across the table with odds of 2:1

• Column – this bet is placed on one of the inside bet columns, incorporating 12 numbers, with odds of 2:1

Evaluate your bankroll and choose how much you want to stake on your bet.

Place your chips on the bet you want to make. Choose an inside bet with low odds or an outside bet with high odds.

Once the betting closes the dealer will spin the wheel and set the ball in motion.

The ball will eventually settle into any random number and the winner is revealed.
